Cougar Challenge
As part of your commitment to your team, the game of lacrosse and your own development as a player, you are expected to practice on your own time. The Cougar Challenge is a personal practice plan created to help you further your skills and become more effective on the field.
To meet the basic requirements of the Cougar Challenge, we encourage you to dedicate at least one hour per week (three 20-minute sessions), other than games & scheduled team practice time, to improving your stick work.
Suggested Drills:
Playing “wall ball” (practice dominant /non-dominant sides for both
catching and throwing)
Having a catch with a friend, teammate or family member
Throwing/catching against a “pitch back” (dominant/non-dominant sides)
Practicing ground balls
Running or similar cardio exercise
Cougar Challenge - Commitment to Excellence Chart:
For every 20 minute segment you dedicate to individual practice, please record a on your chart as one (1) session. The minimum requirement is at least 3 sessions per week, but we encourage more! Coaches will collect player's tallies a few times throughout the season and again before the all-team picnic at the end of the season. Feel free to set your own personal goal for excellence. Make your goal realistic, yet challenging! Good luck!
